Thanks for taking the time to contact me Walter. As per my email in response, it is my understanding also that the constituency Labour Party has voted this way. However, local Labour's position is confused by the fact that the Labour MP is solidly behind the Academies.

As for the Pier - we Lib Dems agree with the CPO in a back-to-back arrangement with the Hastings Pier & White Rock Trust.

I hope you'll allow this comment to be published.

I'm no big Labour fan, but my neighbour is a local member.

He told me that a motion was passed earlier this year at a Hastings and Rye Labour Party general committee meeting to oppose the introduction of academies in the area. I would hazard a guess that many activists across the country feel the same way.

The local Labour lot are also in favour of the compulsory purchase of Hastings Pier. You might remember seeing their banner at the Hastings Pier march.

What will the Lib Dems do with Hastings Pier?

So what was the response? Tried to watch Parliament Channel. Did not catch it. Time is of the essence. As you know NHS times and procedures are so slow patient can be dead or have deteriorated beyond adequate or full ecovery. Springtime for Cleggy and Perry voices, anyone else? Doesn't need an early motion in Spring needs an urgent manual evacuation of buearocratic s**t NOW!

An interesting post, Nick. Having also read Jenkin's biography, and quite a lot of other material on the great man, I have to agree with you. His levels of activity were super-human at times but he also had remarkable "down" periods.

I really am angry and frustrated that the responsible politicians can not see that this situation is so ridiculous! Where is the sense they were born with? The regulation deprives not only fishermen of their living but also reduces the amount of cod available for consumption when healthy edible fish are returned dead to the water! Please, can no-one with the power to resolve this matter see just how foolish this whole situation is. Bureaucracy gone mad! You could write a situation comedy about this if it were not so sad. Please!!!

I too am a Leo, august 11th., but unlike you am rather disorganised. I can't understand why a person who pays Council Tax can't automatically continue registration to vote. I find myself, yet again, being chased to fill in forms declaring I reside in an area where I must claim my right to vote. If I don't, I'm in big trouble, again....... If my payments default, then its fair to question the habitants of a property. If its paid, surely I can decide whether I use the vote or not ? There's far too much paperwork and wasted tax payers money on printing and postage.

You cannot force people to vote, merely use the alleged turnout to offer compensation to the political losers on the night/day........Mad spin..

That is good and far better than what was happening.
However, it would be even more better if the charges were very low like Falaise Gym had 10p per hour or that there should be a cap on the limit.

I drove to hospital after severing my wrist and having a pumping artery. yet when I parked up the parking attendant insisted that I go back and put a parking ticket on my car never mind stubble with change with a pumping artery. Then I got inot A&E and had to bang on the reception window who again told me to wait my turn even though I had a pumping artery. Eventually I got seen and got strapped up while 4 pints of blood pumped out. I was clearly not ina fit state to sort out my parking. Yet twice I was informed that if I did not get up and leave and sort out my car park ticket I would have a fine. Even though I was strapped up I was told it was of no concern or consequence either I did something about my ticket or face the consequences. We managed to get a notcie on the car to say I ws busy bleeding to death and could not come out immediately. Even so I had to arrange for someone to drive the car out the hospital ad round the corner even thought it was covered in blood.

Great. Fantastic. As I was in a low paid job on less than the minimum wage and lost my job and did not get benefits for three months and had to walk home alone and get up to east Grinstead the follwing day without help. There was no swaying and no pity when it came to the hospital's policy on parking and their need for my money over my physicla needs or welfare.

Should be a limit. It shoudl be low and achievable and hourly rate should be pennies not pounds. We cannot really afford it. We are ill and without jobs or income.

Castle ward Forum needs to spend time and effort finding ways to involve residents who have so far failed to join in any of our activities.

This should be a priority as I suggest we have not managed to reach out to those whose lifestyle, lack of opportunities and day-to-day problems could benefit from what the Forum has to offer.

We badly need a more INCLUSIVE Forum - Regeneration should be about social improvement, not just new buildings.
